An alumnus of St. Charles College and of St. Mary’s Seminary, Roland Leveille, as a candidate for St. Sulpice, was ordained to priesthood for the Diocese of Richmond on May 16, 1959. That· same year he was assigned to St. Joseph’s College in Mountain View, California, until September of 1962 when he returned to Baltimore to begin a year of novitiate in the Sulpician Solitude. After Solitude, he went back to St. Joseph’s for two years; then he was appointed to St. Stephen’s, Sulpician minor seminary in Hawaii. In 1967 Father Leveille came to St. Mary’s Seminary Philosophy Department on Paca St. in Baltimore. The next year, 1968, he went to St. Edward’s Seminary in Seattle, Washington. After a year there he was permitted to take up parish work in the Diocese of Richmond, where he served for two years.
In 1971 he was granted a leave of absence and moved to Sunnyvale, California; then, shortly after, to Las Vegas, Nevada. There he lived as a layman and worked as a motel manager. In 1972, Father Leveille applied for laicization from priestly vows; a dispensation was granted on March 9, 1973. In October of that same year he was married in St. Anne’s Church in Las Vegas. It was from his wife, Teresita, that word was received of his death on February 20, 1994.
