A memorial Mass for Pierre Calegari, former teacher at St. Charles College and personnel executive, was held May 24 at Our Lady of Angels Chapel, Catonsville.
Mr. Calegari, 60, died May 20, at his home in Randallstown. A former Sulpician priest, he taught history, French and theology at St. Charles from 1964-1971 when he left the ministry. During his years as a teacher, he served as an assistant at St. Mark’s, Catonsville, and regularly preached at Sunday Masses.
Born in Montreal, Canada, Mr. Calegari grew up in San Francisco where he received a Master of Arts degree from San Francisco University in 1960. He was awarded a Fulbright scholarship and studied at the Sorbonne in Paris.
In 1971 Mr. Calegari married Jane Liebeck. He served as a campus minister at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, and held various personnel positions. Prior to his death, he was personnel manager at Turf Valley Country Club.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Calegari is survived by his father, Adolph, and stepmother, Muriel, of San Francisco; his brothers Gregoire, Michel, Father Leonard Calegari of San Francisco; and Jesuit Father Marc Calegari of Phoenix; and his sister, Marianne C. Hansen, of Paris.
